Hey there dino lovers! As it’s the middle of the summer, it’s the opportune time for splashing in the pool and soaking up the sun. A cool drink in your hand is a definite must! Why not sip in style? I’ve created some sizzling drink stirrers to give your spirits a little more pizzazz. Whether you’re planning a pool party, a dinosaur party, or just having a get together with friends and you want your bar cart to make an impression; these little guys will do just that. Here’s how we get started!
What you’ll need:
- Acrylic Paint of assorted colors
- Plastic toy Dinosaurs
- Hot Glue Gun
- Mod Podge (Glossy)
Start with painting each of the dinosaurs your choice of color. I’ve seen a lot of gold drink stirrers lately, but I wanted my guys to be bright and rainbowy. After you paint the first coat, let it dry before applying any additional coats. You might need 2 or 3 coats, depending on how dark the base color was. The acrylic dries pretty quickly, so it’s not too long of a process. Move on to the next color and come back to the previously painted ones for multiple coats.Voilà — they’re so fun and colorful! My daughter loved the transformation and couldn’t wait to play with. Next, you’ll want to completely cover your newly painted dinosaurs with Mod Podge to seal in the acrylic paint. It will protect the paint from getting scratched off later. I chose glossy Mod Podge to give it a little sheen rather than a dull finish. It dries clear, but just make sure you smooth all of the areas out with your paintbrush so it doesn’t clump in any of the crevices.
With your hot glue gun, attach the paper straws to the bottoms of your dinosaurs. Once they’re dry and secure, they are ready to be plunged into those summery drinks! I came up with this DIY while playing with my daughter and setting up a “dinosaur town”, haha. I’m always thinking about repainting this or that, so they became my next project.
Let these vibrant dinos make an impression for you! They’re such a fun way to jazz up any party cocktail or fruity beverage. Enjoy the rest of your summer, lovies. And don’t forget to party in style!
