Merry Christmas, y’all! I’ve been a busy little bee over here with this latest DIY. I theme my Christmas decor around gingerbread everything, so when I saw this colorful Christmas village by Kelly from Studio DIY, I had to get in on it. These adorable wooden bird houses are the absolute sweetest!
You can find them at your local craft store, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or Amazon. They’re super cheap! I purchased quite a few of them because there are too many styles to choose from and I love them all! I also found a castle that I’ll be painting later to look like Cinderella’s in Magic Kingdom. I can’t wait!
Gather a range of your favorite colors of acrylic paints and a variety of paint brushes. You’ll definitely want a few small brushes for those hard to reach crevices and tiny picket fences. I spent a few days painting them so it can be quite time consuming when you have so many. But the hand cramps were totally worth it to me, haha!
Oh my gosh, I’m obsessed with how CUTE these little houses are all painted up!
Once you’ve got them all painted, lightly brush white paint around the roof edges and moldings to add depth where snow would naturally fall.
Lastly, we’re going to add “snow” and glitter! For this step, completely cover the top of your birdhouses, the bottoms of window sills, and the tops of fences with glue or Mod Podge. With a mixture of confetti glitter, sparkling snow, and glitter, sprinkle it over the glued areas for a more realistic dusting of snowfall.
And that’s it! These would make such a great idea for a craft party project.
Be sure to check out the full tutorial and material list over at Studio DIY! Kelly’s are so beautiful. She added tiny wreaths and more accessories, but I’m just embellishing mine with bottle brush trees. I’m so happy she inspired me to create my own super duper adorable colorful Christmas village!
Love love this!!!
Can I ask where you got the church birdhouse from? Do you have a link?
Hi there! I’m pretty sure I got it at Michael’s, but I can’t find a link for it anymore.
