Merry Christmas Eve! I meant to post this much much sooner, but it’s been so crazy around here lately. Before we leave town tomorrow and before Christmas is over and all of the decor goes back in the attic, I wanted to share a mini tour of our decorations. As you’ll notice, I’m pretty obsessed with gingerbread. They are definitely the basis of my “theme” throughout our home. I just can’t resist the cuteness. Come on in!
I usually keep the decor in our foyer area pretty simple. I added a pennant banner that I hand painted, filled a hurricane shade with Christmas balls, and displayed my favorite gingerbread house. Since purchasing a new desk and updating my work space, the tree won’t fit in the corner of our living room where we normally set it up. This year, I decided I’d try this side near the entertainment center and we love it!
I painted stripes and sprinkles with acrylics on my pennants for a candy-like effect. This super adorable gingerbread house is actually an advent calendar with teeny tiny doors to hide surprises in! I found this gem at Kohl’s a few Christmases ago. It was 50% off, best deal ever.
Isn’t is so colorful and fun?! Each compartment is pretty small but perfect for little trinkets or candies. And stickers!
I’m in love with our tree from Balsam Hill! This is our third Christmas since purchasing it. It looks so realistic and lush! It came with a cloth storage zipper bag and gloves to fluff the branches out, pretty darn fancy! Especially compared to the 15 year old beat-up box that housed our previous Christmas tree. That tree had seen it’s days, ya’ll! The branches were so brittle from having to restring it too many times over the years. I accidentally restrung the whole thing together before finally retiring the thing. I couldn’t even store it properly and take each piece apart! The top section of the tree stuck out of the box a couple of feet, so I had to tape a black trash bag around it to keep bugs out. Haha, good times. I think we deserved an upgrade!
The mesh garland is so pretty, and really easy to drape. About every arms-length, pinch the mesh together and wrap a branch around it tightly to keep it in place. I interchanged turquoise and green at each layer up because I couldn’t decide between them. Can’t go wrong with both colors! I never found the pink and white candy stripe garland like I wanted, so red will do for now as the hunt continues.
I think I’ll be hitting up some after Christmas sales. I need/want more candy, pink, and turquoise!
I recently added these gingerbread house cut-outs to our mantel because it was seriously lacking some height. I looove them. Click here for a short tutorial how to make your own!
I spread the holiday cheer over to my work space area too. Check out the nutcracker baker dude! He’s so awesome. Almost as awesome as my Michael Jackson bobble-head. I painted this little gingerbread family to look like us (ha), the daddy even has a full on beard. You can see “us” up close on my Instagram here!
This felt tree has been one of Livi’s favorites since she could crawl. She still has so much fun redecorating the snowflakes. Such an easy idea for the littles!
Since we won’t be spending Christmas here, I chose a simple centerpiece for our dining table.
I recently upgraded our coffee corner area, but swapped out a few things for these cuties.
And lastly, Livi’s Hello Kitty pink tree in her room! Isn’t it precious? We’ve since added a squishy cupcake ornament, and and Ariel one as well. The twinkly dewdrop fairy lights are my absolute favorite. I found this 10-bulb battery pack string of lights in the Target Dollar Spot. Score!
This concludes my mini-tour! I wish all my readers a very safe and happy holidays. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!
