If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you know that I love to follow and celebrate “National Days”. It just so happens that today is National Gingerbread House Day! This is right up my alley, you guys. Our house is decked out in gingerbread theme all Christmas. I’m obsessed! I just finished creating my own gingerbread cut-outs for our fire place mantel and I love them so much! Check out this super quick and easy DIY!
Supplies you need:
- MDF Board
- Pencil, Ruler… things you need to sketch your design
- Brushes & Acrylic Paints of your choice
- Black+Decker Jigsaw
I drew the shapes for my houses and cut them using my new jigsaw. This was really my first “official” time using the jigsaw by myself, I was proud of me! Haha, these shapes are my favorite.
Here’s the style I was going for with my sketches. Along the way, I added a few small details to give them a candy look. With a handful of my favorite acrylic paints and paint pens, I decorated each one. I chose a simple design because I didn’t want them too busy. They turned out so adorable, huh?!
I’ve been brainstorming some Christmassy ideas to give my mantel some height. These did just that! I also updated that smaller gingerbread house with some of the same acrylics. I’ll be sharing some more Christmas decor later this week for funsies, come back and see!
Eeek… I love them!!
