My husband and I have worked from home for a few years now, so an office area is a big necessity for both of us. While he has his desk set up in our guest room, I’ve got the back corner of the living room. Since starting my blog, I quickly realized how badly I needed some extra work space. Compared to my teeny tiny “before” desk, I’m way happy with this one. Check out how all of the details for my new home office came together!
I browsed the net for quite a while looking for the perfect desk before deciding to customize my own with IKEA. For the base, I chose the Klimpen drawer unit & the Lerberg trestle. I wanted a much larger work space so the Klimpen table top was perfect. It measures 59″ x 29 1/2″ — I’m in love! With a few fun items to complete the gallery wall, I’d say it’s a massive improvement from before. Take a closer look!
I traded my large matted frame for a 22″ x 22″ simple white one and added some feathers to tie in with my theme. I love this Karakum rug from Urban Outfitters so I printed a copy of it and stapled it to the back of a square canvas. The metal mail organizer is a Zulily find. Finally something pretty to hold our bills, ha!
If you know much about me, you know that I LOVE Michael Jackson. Seeing him perched on my floating shelf just makes my day! Seriously though.. haha. If you’re as big a fan as me, snag him here. I adore marquees and found the X & O at Hobby Lobby. They’re no longer available on their site but you can find them after a quick google search. They’re Heidi Swapp Marquee Love Letter Kits. A little DIY is involved as you can decorate them however you want, then just insert the bulbs afterwards. For my most important tool of all, I found this camera strap and it’s perfect! The hook it’s hanging from is by Anthropologie, called Hunter. They carry the coolest things! This lovely hand drawn feather print was designed by Hannah of WeLivedHappilyEverAfter. She created a 12 pack of Boho Rustic Feathers. They’re all so gorgeous, I had a hard time picking my favorite. I used her free XOXO print last year in my daughter’s room when I gave it a makeover. Absolutely love her style!
So, a mega bonus about having extra space is that I can have my Cricut Explore Air right next to me, ready for use at any time of the day! I’ve had so much fun with this machine, click here for a stylish DIY iron-on that I did earlier this year. All of my desk clutter shown below comes from Target — including the task lamp which was under $25! Ya’ll.. is the Dollar Spot not the most dangerous place in there for you? I usually end up spending more like $20 when I finally walk away, haha. Worth it though, I can always find the neatest stuff!
You may recognize the desk organizer and scissors by Nate Berkus. Those were a Christmas gift from my bestie! She loves me, haha — Thanks, Jenna! The fancy little skull is Crystal Head Vodka. Smoothest vodka ever, it’s SO good. My “lips” mousepad is pretty awesome, click here to see the full tutorial on how I made it! I think it’s added a whole lot of cuteness to my work space. I found the vase and paper weight in our Hobby Lobby clearance section. They were a little scratched but nothing a fresh coat of white paint can’t fix. Awesome find in my book, yay!
Thanks for checking out my space! I’ve enjoyed this project and I’m happy to be able to share it with everyone. On to the next! XO
