This post has been in my drafts for a few weeks now and I kept wondering if I should post it or not. I wasn’t sure of what to say or how to really blog about something that seems “miniscule” in the grand scheme of things.
I’ve been documenting my birthdays for the past couple of years here on my blog, but Covid has really made this year feel unlike any other. At the start of all this mess, there were days where it took more effort to find joy in the things that once excited me. But through those ups and downs that came along with all of the changes and “new normals” happening around us, I made the choice to do my best to accept what I can’t change, adjust, and choose happiness anyway!
So I decided to sit down and write a small entry for myself to remember my birthday because it is a milestone in my life, and it should be celebrated! I enjoy going back and reading these posts later to see how I’ve grown. I can’t let this year go by without sharing at least a little bit, even if it’s not much!
We didn’t have any spectacular events planned for my birthday this year, I just simply wanted to get dolled up and spend the day with my little family of three.
We picked up Starbucks and snacks, then mosied around a local outdoor mall before heading to our favorite walking trail.
The first time I blogged about my birthday (here), we leisurely hung around my hometown and I got some fun balloons to make my day a little cheerful. Since Covid has been such a downer, I got some more this year! And they totally helped brighten the day.
Family walks have been one of our most favorite activities during these crazy times. I love getting out in the fresh air and just allowing my mind and body time to recenter. It feel so good to move around and stretch your legs out a bit in nature!
This day was such a beautiful one. The weather was the perfect temperature with a nice breeze. We love this particular walking trail because it’s so peaceful and the foliage is thick and stunning. And, it makes the best backdrop for photos!
The way the sunset hits the trees throughout the trail is really something beautiful.
Everyone that passes by is always so polite and friendly. My daughter loves to strike up conversations with pretty much anyone here, especially if they have a furbaby with them. These balloons made so many people smile, which absolutely made my day!
My hubby is so sweet to capture these moments. Time spent with my family are the most precious to me. They are my biggest supporters. I’m so grateful for them and blessed beyond measure!
We can all agree that 2020 has been a tough year full of uncertainty. It’s made me pray a lot more, count my blessings more, and be more grateful for the things that I often took for granted. My heart goes out to everyone who has lost someone special in their lives this year. Many times during these passing months, I’ve experienced fear, heartbreak, anxiety, but also hope. Hope and faith have been the light that allows me to see brighter days ahead.
There is much to be thankful for!
